Tonight’s Quest is an independent game-discovery tool for finding something that fits the evening you want—not just the games you played most in the past.

How games are selected

We compare gameplay descriptors against your played library. Playtime has diminishing influence, so thousands of hours in one game don’t get thousands of times the vote. Your selected experiences and favorite game guide the search. Among similarly suitable games, newer PC releases get a modest preference.

Owned and dismissed games stay out. Known conflicts with your choices are excluded. Possible matches disclose missing evidence; nearby alternatives match only part of your selected experiences. Session lengths and mood descriptions are suggestions, not promises.

Where the data comes from

The shared catalog combines IGDB, Steam metadata, and source-linked editorial research. Library tags may also use SteamSpy. This is a periodically refreshed snapshot, not all Steam games or a live inventory. Game details, co-op modes and availability can change; check the store before buying.

No language model runs when you request recommendations. The decorative homepage artwork was generated and animated during development; it is separate from the recommendation engine.

Your data

We send your Steam profile identifier to Steam to retrieve its public library. Game details and playtime must be public. Your library and preferences are held in this page’s memory and sent to our server to calculate results. The app does not save them to a database, local storage, or an advertising profile. Reloading clears the page’s state.

We cache public game metadata, which contains no ownership or playtime information. Anonymous, shared request counters help keep the project within its usage budget. Hosting providers may keep operational logs or use cookies for site access. No app analytics, advertising trackers, or recommendation account is required.

If a lookup doesn’t work

Check Steam’s game-details and playtime privacy settings, then submit again: profile lookups are fresh. The sample-library option works without Steam credentials. If the daily live-lookup allowance is used up, the sample remains available; the allowance resets at midnight UTC.
